By Sharil Tarmize sharil@mystar.com.my U mai Cafe is one of the restaurants in Putrajaya that provide affordable food with a million dollar view.

The restaurant serves multiple types of cuisine, ranging from Malay to Western and has both indoor and outdoor seating.

The two-storey eatery is also famously recognised as the lake garden cafe in Putrajaya by locals.

The business first started in 2010 and this impressively architectured cafe is open for patrons seven days a week from 9 am to 11 pm.

Situated just beside the Putrajaya Lake, Umai cafe is a perfect spot for visitors to enjoy their food while watching the sunset.

The outdoor area also seems like the right place for any celebration.

The cafe gets a little crowded during lunch hour and if you wonder why people keep coming back to this place for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it must be the food as despite being the only cafe located near Millenium Monument, Umai Cafe would be filled to the brim even on weekends.

During our visit, the place was full of people but the staff were duly attending their customers.

If you’re planning on coming here, don’t worry about where to park your car, as there are ample parking spaces around the vicinity of the cafe.

Despite being cheap and affordable, the portion of the food offered here is satisfying enough.

RATE EAT!  Chicken Chop A combination between crispy deep fried chicken and gravy black pepper sauce leaves a pleasant taste in your mouth.

It comes together with a handful amount of french fries and coleslaw.

As a fan of coleslaw, I can say that this one tastes pretty good.

The fries were still hot when being served to us makes everything on this plate palatable.

Tom Yam Mee Hoon Soup The tom yam soup had delicious flavour thanks to the excellent balance between sourness, saltiness and sweetness that makes you want to keep on slurping.

The soup has the right amount of spice which doesn’t overpower the overall taste.

It also has a generous amount of meat, veggies and mee hoon and well-cooked seafood included inside to make for a filling and satisfying meal.

Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken An attractive portion of coconut rice comes with other essential ingredients such as cucumber, boiled egg, crispy fried anchovies, fried peanuts and a small cup for sambal.

The coconut rice alone tasted perfect, but unfortunately, the sambal was subpar compared to the quality of the rice and lacks any kick.

It should have the right amount of salt, sugar and spiciness to make good sambal for nasi lemak..
